A jet stream of heavy rain and gales are set to hit Britain after icy storms hammered the USA. The Met Office has shared footage of the jet stream path - carrying the cold air across the Atlantic ocean - predicting it could lead to "unsettled conditions" over the New Year Weekend.
In Nottingham, heavy rain is expected to pour on Wednesday morning, December 28. The temperatures will maintain around 9-10C throughout the day.
Heavy showers and cloudy skies are predicted for the area on December 30-31. Light rain is expected on the first day of the New Year.
