Freeway boost as leaders ramp up pre-poll promises

A major freeway will get a half-billion-dollar injection from a state government as a premier vying for election names roads as his "big priority".

Victorian leader Ben Carroll on Sunday announced the Western Freeway would get additional lanes and lights, and improved interchanges, if Labor won the November poll.
