Freddie Flintoff quits A League Of Their Own after 12 'unforgettable' years

Freddie Flintoff has quit A League Of Their Own after 12 years on the show.

The former cricketing star shared the sad news on Instagram, adding that it has been an "unforgettable journey".

The 44-year-old fronted the show alongside James Corden, Jamie Redknapp and recently Romesh Ranganathan.

Freddie, who has been loyal to the show since it first launched onto television screens in 2010, shared a few snaps from his time on the Sky Original show.

The show, which has been hosted by several different famous faces following reshuffles, is a mixture of sports trivia, celebrity guests and games and challenges.

In his post he wrote: "It's been 12 years, 16 series, six road trips across America and a mud bath I'd rather forget.

"But now the time has come to leave the amazing ALOTO team.

"I'd like to say a huge thanks to all of you who tuned in over the years and to everyone I have worked with on the show - what an unforgettable journey it's been."

He's now worth an estimated £15 million (jamie.redknapp/Instagram)

He shared a photo of himself dressed up in drag with a huge blonde wig and bright blue eyeshadow and lipstick to match.

In another, the cricket legend tried his hand at baseball as he, Jamie Redknapp, Jack Whitehall and James Corden dressed up in the kit for Los Angeles baseball team Angels.

Freddie's last appearance on the show will be on its upcoming Road Trip series, which was filmed in Cardiff and is expected to air later this year.

During his time on the show Freddie has stepped up to do a hilarious selection of challenges including human bowling, drag performing and even splashed around in a mud bath.

Since the show's beginning the panel has seen several new faces after Jack Whitehall left the show in 2017.

He was then replaced by fellow funnyman Romesh, but returned to the series in 2021 to surprise the gang on the latest road trip from Lock Ness to London.

In 2020 The Late Late Show host James Corden, was forced to pull out from the show after Covid travel restrictions blocked him from entering the UK.

Last year it was announced that Romesh will step into Cordon's shoes and become the show's permanent host after James stood down to prioritise filming in the US.

Freddie was recently filmed on the toilet by mischievous Paddy McGuinness who stuck his phone under a toilet cubicle.

Freddie, who has been ripping Paddy with mischievous pranks recently, crossed his legs and shouted: "Woah stop it!"

Paddy uploaded the snap on Instagram with the caption: "Revenge is sweet".

The Mirror has approached Sky for comment.
