Fraudster cheats man of Rs 1 lakh, held in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths on Friday arrested a man for cheating a bank customer of ₹1 lakh at an ATM kiosk in SR Nagar.

The accused was identified as Rama Rao, 28. He was previously involved in 27 cases. According to the police, the customer went to an ATM to deposit money in his account last month.

Claiming that the ATM machine is not working, the accused person said that he was in dire need of money and requested the victim to give him ₹1 lakh so that he will transfer the cash to his bank account.

Believing it to be true, the victim gave the cash besides his bank account details.

The victim received an SMS that ₹1 lakh was credited into his account. Later, when he verified, he found that the money was not deposited. The victim approached the police, who nabbed the accused.
