Frank Reich still unsure if he’ll reclaim play-calling from Thomas Brown

The Carolina Panthers are less than a week away from what could be their toughest matchup of the season, and they’re still unsure about exactly who will be calling their offense.

Head coach Frank Reich spoke with reporters this afternoon, six days ahead of their Week 11 meeting with the 6-3 Dallas Cowboys. When asked if he’ll be reclaiming play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, Reich had about the same answer as he did on Friday.

“Have not totally dialed that in,” he said. “Pretty much as I’ve said—we’ve been collaborative in much of what we do. I’m still evaluatin’ the whole thing and, so, in how it’s actually gonna function or not.”

Speaking of not functioning, the Carolina offense hasn’t done much under the control of either man. Since Brown has taken the reins back in Week 8, the Panthers have scored just two offensive touchdowns over three games.

Reich was then asked if he’ll try for an even more collaborative effort at this point.

“However we’ve done the play-calling, whoever’s been doing the play-calling, we haven’t performed as an offense. So let me just make that point clear, first of all” he replied. “As I look towards now, the last half of the season, what’s the best dynamic and why? Any decision that’s ultimately made is just gonna be based on that one pure factor.”

With one game left to be played here in Week 10, the Panthers currently rank 30th in total offense and 29th in scoring.
