Celtic legend Frank McGarvey made an emotional half-time appearance during their Premiership clash with Hibs on Saturday.
The former goalscoring forward was on the park with his daughter after news broke that he had been diagnosed with cancer, thanking fans for their support. He was given a huge ovation by the home faithful as he emerged from the tunnel and told them 'I want to tell everybody at Parkhead today, I love you all.'
McGarvey played 245 times for Celtic between 1980 and 1985 and his last game in green and white was the 1985 Scottish Cup final against Dundee United, where he netted a memorable winner during the 2-1 victory at Hampden. The 66-year-old is one of only 30 players to have scored over 100 goals for the Hoops and fittingly, James Forrest netted a hat-trick to join that prestigious list of players. Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda efforts capped off an emotional and memorable day in Glasgow's east end as a 6-1 victory was claimed.

Manager Ange Postecoglou caught up with former Liverpool player McGarvey and was even handed some blunt advice. He said: “I caught up with Frank. I’ve got a little connection to him, not that he knows.
"I was a Liverpool supporter and when King Kenny (Dalglish) went to Liverpool my allegiances were to both clubs. Then when Frank moved from Liverpool to Celtic I followed his career after that. It was great to see him before the game as well as his kids.
"He’s going through a tough time, but he had some strong words about what I needed to do which you wouldn’t be surprised to hear. He made it clear we should score in the first 20 minutes. Hopefully it lifts his spirits.”
