Everton head coach Frank Lampard has praised Jesse Marsch for ‘reinvigorating’ Leeds United ahead of the meeting between the two sides this evening. Lampard is set to head to Elland Road for the first time as a manager since his infamous 4-2 win over the Whites in the Championship play-off semi-finals with Derby County in May 2019.
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Leeds have made a positive start to the new campaign with seven points from their opening four matches. Marsch has refreshed some key areas of the squad over the summer, which has ultimately paid dividends in the first few weeks of the season.
It will be the first time Lampard has come up against Marsch during their time in Premier League management, with Everton running out 3-0 winners over Leeds in the previous meeting when Marcelo Bielsa was in charge. But speaking to Evertonfc.com, Lampard is expecting a tough game at Elland Road given the start to the season Leeds have made.

He said: "They lost at the weekend but they've made a good start.
"I watched their game against Chelsea and they've got such an energy about them that they've had since Bielsa's time and fair play to Jesse Marsch, who has come in, kept them up and it feels now as a squad and as a club that he's invigorated them with some good signings and passion and coaching, which I don't see but you see a reflection of it on the pitch.
"It'll be really tough. An evening game on a Tuesday night at Elland Road... It's going to be a tough game, no doubt."
