Incoming Everton boss Frank Lampard looks set to turn to Paul Clement to be his assistant manager.
Lampard had been keen on reuniting with Anthony Barry, the former Everton youth player he took to Chelsea in 2020.
But Lampard looks unlikely to be able to prise Barry from Stamford Bridge, where he plays an integral part in Thomas Tuchel’s backroom staff.
Sources have indicated to the ECHO that though the highly thought of Barry was open to joining the Blues, he is happy at Chelsea and was not prepared to push for a move to Goodison.
Joe Edwards also looks likely to come with Lampard to Everton once his appointment has been confirmed.
The Blues have been hoping to officially confirm Lampard’s arrival as the successor to Rafa Benitez today.
