Frank Lampard 'frustrated' with Everton defeat as Pep Guardiola gears up for final day fight

A round-up of the latest Premier League headlines on Sunday, 15 May.

Manchester City drop points as Pep Guardiola makes 'fair' title race claim

Pep Guardiola claims it's only 'fair' that the Premier League title race will head to the final day of the season. Manchester City dropped points against West Ham United, leaving just four points separating City and Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side have a game in hand as a result of their FA Cup triumph, and will travel to Southampton on Tuesday, before taking on Wolves on the final day of the season. City take on Aston Villa at home.

"I said to the players after the game that we could not expect any different against a team fighting to win the Premier League that is one of the most perfect teams I have seen in my life," the City boss told the MEN.

"Against this Liverpool you cannot win the league a month ago or two or three fixtures ago. You have to fight until the end.

"They fought, we fight and the big privilege we have is that it is in our hands at home. We only have to look at ourselves and we will give everything.

"I said [to the players] today not to be said because you gave a really good performance and it is fair against this opponent to arrive on the final day to decide who is the best, because both teams are too good."

Frank Lampard rues red card 'mistake' after Everton defeat

Frank Lampard has been dealt a further blow as the Toffees saw two men sent off against Brentford as the Bees came from behind to take all three points at Goodison Park. The Toffees are just one point above Jesse Marsch's side but have a game in hand on the Whites.

Speaking after the defeat, Lampard said: "They're a strong group and they gave everything there today. On another day we win that game comfortably and we're all relaxing a little bit tonight.

"They'll go again. We'll all go again. It's my job first and foremost. There's no point putting fake smiles on tonight because it's frustrating that you don't get the result.

"It's not an issue of effort, it was a mistake that changes it after that, everyone, the intentions were great, the crowd were great. We have to just go again. Recharge and go again."
