Frank Lampard has addressed Everton’s lack of goals and believes moves in the transfer market could play a part in helping his side become more competitive.
Everton have only managed to score 17 times in 22 games in all competitions so far this season. The Blues have also only managed to score two or more times in a single game twice.
Even the return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin has done very little to give Lampard’s side the boost they were hoping to get. And Lampard admits his side’s lack of goals has become a major problem for his side that needs to be addressed if they are to move up the Premier League table.

MICHAEL BALL: Everton players 'not good enough' and need to take account for club 'mess'
He said: “We have to do better. We have talked about it a lot in terms of what an attacking and clinical threat does in games.
“You see it in the league, that feeling of not scoring enough goals is hard because you can have good periods in games but if you aren’t scoring it keeps the other team in the game.
“It has been a problem for us this year, without a doubt. Sometimes as a coach you want to work to get there and the last bit is the hard bit in terms of you needing the individual to score.
"That is not me taking my responsibility out of it, but it is a fact. We haven’t done it enough.”
Lampard has long spoken of his side’s need to bring in 'help' during the transfer window this month. All eyes are currently on director of football Kevin Thelwell and Everton’s recruitment team as they aim to bring in attacking reinforcements.
The ECHO reported back in December that Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga is among what is said to be a detailed list of targets. Kamaldeen Sulemana is another name who the Blues are interested in bringing to the club on loan.
However, despite continued speculation, no new faces have yet arrived at the club, with the exception of Ellis Simms, who has returned from a successful loan spell at Sunderland. But Lampard believes a couple of new additions, along with some hard work behind the scenes, can help his side build some much needed momentum.
He said: “There is a lot we need to do to change the momentum. We need to work hard and we need to see what we can do in January. We need to be competitive in every single way so that all those things can come together.”
