Francesco Bagnaia wins first ever MotoGP sprint

Reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia on Saturday became the first rider to win the newly-introduced MotoGP sprint race at the season-opening Portuguese Grand Prix.

Bagnaia clinched the sprint with a last-lap overtake and earned 12 points to move to the top of the rider's standings ahead of the race on Sunday.
