France’s controversial “Ripost” law, aimed at strengthening the state’s response to urban unrest and public disorder, is set to face a decisive test on Monday when a joint parliamentary committee will study versions adopted by the National Assembly and the Senate.
The bill was introduced in March by Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, and aims to curb public order issues including violence in stadiums, illegal street races, fireworks and the recreational use of nitrous oxide.
