France on Sunday called on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to reverse a decision to postpone legislative elections, originally set for 28 November. Abbas said on Saturday that due to "Israeli obstacles", the vote would be held in September next year, alongside a presidential poll.
The delay "deprives the Palestinian people of their right to democratically express themselves at the ballot box" for the first national elections in two decades, the French foreign ministry said in a statement.
