FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron has warned public gatherings could be banned across France following a weekend of fierce protests nationwide against rising living costs and poor conditions in schools.

Macron has expressed the public’s “anger” and “shame” over nationwide protests, which have resulted in at least 2400 arrests as hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets over the weekend.
