France's foreign ministry said on Sunday that a ballistic missile strike on Iraq's northern Kurdish regional capital of Erbil threatened efforts to conclude nuclear talks with Iran.
The strike, for which Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) has claimed responsibility, also threatened stability in Iraq and the wider region, the foreign ministry's spokesperson said in a statement, reiterating that there was urgency to conclude the nuclear negotiations with Iran.
The missiles, which targeted the US consulate's new building, caused only material damage and one civilian was injured, the Kurdish interior ministry said.
The IRGC released a statement taking responsibility for the missile attack against Israeli "strategic centers" in Erbil, Iran's state media reported.
"Any repetition of attacks by Israel will be met with a harsh, decisive and destructive response," the Revolutionary Guard said in the statement.
