Triathlon events at the Paralympic Games in Paris have officially begun after overcoming water quality concerns. French athlete Alexis Hanquinquant delighted the home crowd by successfully defending his title and securing France's second gold medal of the day. Hanquinquant, a top-ranked triathlete, dominated the men's PTS4 class triathlon, finishing almost three minutes ahead of his closest competitors.

Having his right leg amputated in 2013 due to a work accident, Hanquinquant showcased remarkable resilience and skill in the competition. The PTS2 to PTS5 sport classes cater to athletes with lower or upper limb limitations who do not require specialized equipment for cycling or running segments.

Another French triumph came from Jules Ribstein, who clinched gold in the men's PTS2 category. The emotional victory was met with cheers from the crowd as Ribstein crossed the finish line. In the women's events, Hailey Danz and Grace Norman of the United States claimed gold in the PTS2 and PTS5 categories, respectively. Chris Hammer added to the American success by winning the men's PTS5 triathlon.

The triathlon events, initially rescheduled, faced a brief postponement due to water quality concerns in the Seine River caused by heavy rains. Despite the challenges, athletes delivered outstanding performances, captivating spectators with their determination and skill.
