The FPL Banger boys are back again with their FPL tips for Week 15, outlining why you should stick with ‘unstoppable’ Mo Salah as captain.
Welcome back to our Fantasy Premier League series with SportsCasting, provided by Siva & Sam, the twisted minds behind the weekly FPL Banger Podcast.
After the Cole Palmer captaincy was a near trainwreck last week, it’s time to bounce back.
FPL Banger’s Week 15 Tips
BEST CAPTAIN
Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) – Everton (A)
Mo Salah just can’t stop scoring. He scored in what may well be his last ever game against Manchester City at Anfield. He scored in his last ever game at Anfield against Real Madrid. He scored in his last ever game at St James’ Park against Newcastle.
You might have heard that Salah is angling for a new contract at Liverpool, who seem unwilling so far to offer him the deal he wants. Salah’s response has been to become unstoppable, hauling against basically everyone. With each passing week, it is becoming harder for Liverpool to say no.
In the meantime, it’s making FPL captaincy a no-brainer. Salah (c) each week until he blanks. And a few more weeks after that.
TOP PICKS
David Raya (£5.5m) – Fulham (A)
Owners of William Saliba and Jurrien Timber were the big winners last week when Arsenal defeated Manchester United 2-0, but things might have turned out quite differently if not for David Raya’s world-class stop to keep out a Matthijs de Ligt header. Raya was left alone for most of the evening, but when called upon, he absolutely stepped up and delivered.
Next up for Raya is a tough assignment at Craven Cottage against what is effectively the Arsenal B team. Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith-Rowe, Reiss Nelson, and even Bernd Leno will all be out to prove a point against their old teammates, and Raya will need to be on his A game. Luckily for Raya owners, he usually is.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£6.9m) – Everton (A)
Trent is back, everyone. 2 assists in a cameo off the bench was just what the doctor ordered as Trent re-established himself as the ultimate defender to own in FPL.
With Everton up next (and Dominic Calvert-Lewin having exhausted his goal tally for the season), a clean sheet, attacking return, and bonus points are on the cards for Trent. And we will be there.
Fulham follows before a meeting with Spurs in what might be the final stand of Ange Postecoglou. I need that. We need that.
Jarrod Bowen (£7.4m) – Wolves (H)
West Ham meet Wolves in “El Sackio” as Gary O’Neil faces off with Julen Lopetegui in a showdown to determine who is the 2nd worst coach in the division. And while it doesn’t feel great to own a player from either of these teams (as Ait-Nouri owners will tell you), Jarrod Bowen is the ultimate under-the-radar pick this week.
Bowen managed an xGI of 1.62 against Leicester last week, and only a Mads Hermansen masterclass kept him out.
Luckily, Wolves have Jose Sa in goal (and Craig Dawson in front of him), so Bowen should have a little less difficulty finding the net this week.
Nicolas Jackson (£8.1m) – Spurs (A)
Week 1 of my owning Jackson quickly became FPL heritage as he was benched for the first time this season by Enzo Maresca in a game in which he surely would have scored a hattrick had he played.
Fortunately, Jackson did score a hattrick the last time he visited the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the omens are looking good for a repeat this time out. Not only has he had a full week’s rest, but Spurs come into this game low on form, low on confidence, and low on available fit defenders.
Radu Dragusin (not a Premier League-level centre-back) and Archie Gray (an 18-year-old who is not a centre-back) are likely to start in the centre of the Spurs defence.
Expect Palmer and Jackson to run riot once more – 18 goal involvements in 21 games is about to become 22 in 22.
