FPL tips: Deadline, squad selection, captain and scout options for GW5

Fantasy Premier League is back for a midweek round and an early evening deadline for gameweek 5.

The clock is ticking on a 6pm deadline for Tuesday, August 30 with many managers pondering their transfers, squad selection and captain picks.

Here are our top tips for FPL GW5...

Raheem Sterling - Chelsea - £9.9m

A brace against Leicester and, let’s face it, a few good openings even in defeat to Leeds showed that Sterling will be the chief finisher at Chelsea this season. His proficiency in front of goal is not perfect but a trip to Southampton hands the winger a chance to build on his record of eight goals in 19 games against the Saints, a run which includes four assists and 13 victories.

Eberechi Eze - Crystal Palace - £5.5m

Hardly a huge point-scorer, Eze is threatening a major breakout ahead of facing Brentford having already bagged a pair of assists and scored bonus points in two separate games this season.

Jack Harrison - Leeds - £6.1m

Only three midfielders rank higher for ‘influence’ than Leeds winger Harrison in FPL and he is also fifth for creativity. With stats like that, whatever they mean, he is a big threat to build on his tally of one goal and three assists when Everton head to Elland Road.

Jonny - Wolves - £4.4m

Sometimes it’s wise to play the man, not the ball, in FPL and Jonny’s Wolves travelling to a Bournemouth side unable to score a goal or keep them out could lead to a big result for Bruno Lage’s side. Scott Parker’s sacking may only enhance the fun at both ends for the wing-back this midweek.
