Fantasy Premier League have finally unveiled their brand new Mystery Chip, and FPL players will now be able to select an ‘Assistant Manager’ from Gameweek 24 onwards.
Assistant Manager Mystery Chip Announced In FPL
The wait is finally over, as the teased Mystery Chip in FPL has been announced.
Fantasy Premier League revealed that a new chip would come into play during the 2024/25 season last summer, which has now been confirmed as the ‘Assistant Manager’ chip.
No longer a mystery.

It joins the ‘Wildcard’, ‘Free Hit’, ‘Bench Boost’ and ‘Triple Captain’ chips already in the game, but it won’t become playable until the end of January, ahead of Gameweek 24.
Once activated, the chip will allow FPL players to choose a real-life manager as their ‘Assistant Manager’ for three consecutive Gameweeks.
They will earn six points for each win, three for a draw, two for a clean sheet, and one point for every goal.
For example, if you select Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca (based on current league standings) and the Blues secure a 2-0 victory, you’d earn a total of 10 points from the chip during that Gameweek.
Not only that, but if you select a manager whose club faces a team ranked five places or higher than them in the Premier League table at the start of the Gameweek, there’s an opportunity to earn even more points, with an EXTRA 10 points on offer for a victory and an EXTRA five for a draw.
How Does The ‘Assistant Manager’ Chip Earn Points In FPL?
- Team win: 6 points
- Team draw: 3 points
- Goals scored: 1 point per goal
- Clean sheet: 2 points
- Table bonus: Face a team ranked five places or higher, and your manager earns 10 additional points for a win (16 total) or 5 extra points for a draw (8 total).
Each manager is valued between £0.5m and £1.5m, and their prices won’t change, but there is no extra budget available, so players will have to pick wisely when selecting their ‘Assistant Manager’.
Additionally, each manager will also count towards the maximum of three people per club rule, and any managerial transfers during the three-Gameweek window when the chip is activated become grouped with all player transfers, meaning that by swapping Pep Guardiola for Mikel Arteta, for example, it would use one of your transfer slots.
