Big Man Bakar is back with another round of FPL tips – this week addressing the key questions and transfer advice ahead of GW11.
As we approach Gameweek 11, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers face several tough decisions.
From weighing up a potential switch from Erling Haaland to Mohamed Salah, to assessing forwards like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and deciding the fate of Rico Lewis, here’s a breakdown of the key considerations for the week.
FPL GW11 Transfer Advice
Should Haaland Owners Consider Swapping Him for Salah?
If you have two free transfers at your disposal, this is a move you should be considering.
I did similar last week because the transfers release cash and allow one to jump on Salah, who is likely to be the optimal captain in most weeks from this point.
Haaland needs to be the clear best captain through a period of Gameweeks to justify his price, and from now on, that’s not going to be the case very often.
A structure with Salah and Cole Palmer will cover you pretty well for the next few weeks without having the need for Haaland:
- GW11: Salah vs. Aston Villa (Haaland vs. Brighton)
- GW12: Salah vs. Southampton (Haaland vs. Spurs)
- GW13: Palmer vs. Aston Villa (Haaland vs. Liverpool)
- GW14: Palmer vs. Southampton (Haaland vs. Forest)
- GW15: Salah vs. Everton (Haaland vs. Palace)
- GW16: Salah vs. Fulham (Haaland vs. Man United)
I realise that this is obviously a move that can heavily backfire, knowing Haaland and his pedigree to haul in any fixture.
It’s certainly not one I’d do for a hit, but with the luxury of multiple free transfers, it would be one I’d be happy to go for.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin: Sell or Keep?
Owning Calvert Lewin has been a nightmare, and his starting spot in the Everton starting 11 is more vulnerable than it has been at any point this season.
Getting subbed early at 0-0 at the weekend was also an alarming sign.
Having said that, I still think that he will probably start, in which case I’ll be content to give him another go in your 11.
I’m also looking at Joao Pedro (£5.4m) as a possible Calvert Lewin replacement from Gameweek 13 as a result of Brighton’s appealing fixture swing.
Joao Pedro has returned to team training, but without any minutes under his belt, it’s surely too early to jump on him, which is another reason to delay the Calvert Lewin transfer.
Gameweeks 12-14 seem like a spell where plenty of transfers will be needed, and if you can afford to save one this week, it would go a long way in helping you put out any fires that may arise.
If Calvert Lewin is leaked not to be starting before the deadline, I like Matheus Cunha as a possible replacement.
Cunha, who has already returned in four of his previous six starts, seems like a very nice set-and-forget option for the upcoming Wolves’ fixtures.
He’s consistently getting close to 90 minutes, and the fixtures are so good that he removes the need to have an eighth attacker for rotation.
Rico Lewis: Keep or Move On?
I have lost confidence in Rico Lewis’ minutes going forward. I’m not convinced that he starts at the weekend, and the upcoming fixtures for Man City aren’t really suited to his playstyle, tactically.
Even though Kyle Walker has been poor this season, my guess is that he still gets the upcoming games against Brighton, Spurs, and Liverpool.
If your defence is in a position where you can afford to bench Lewis for the next three Gameweeks, then Lewis could be a nice hold, as I’d still expect him to offer good value after these fixtures.
However, if your defence is not in a position to cope with Lewis’ potential bench appearances in the next three Gameweeks, my transfer advice is to sell, as his value will likely go down considering the limited minutes and the tough fixtures coming up.
