The anchor who interviewed Kamala Harris in her contested Fox News interview has apologized for sharing an edited clip of Donald Trump during a back-and-forth about the former president's "enemy from within" comments.
"Special Report" host Bret Baier apologized during his Thursday show while speaking with Harris Faulkner, whose town hall clip was shown during the vice president's interview with Baier, admitting he "did make a mistake."
"I wanna say that I did make a mistake," Baier said during the show. "When I called for a sound bite, I was expecting a piece of 'the enemy from within,' from Maria Bartiromo's interview to be tied to the piece from your town hall, Harris, where you asked the former president about 'the enemy from within.'"
During his interview with the vice president, Baier played a Fox News town hall clip in which Trump told Faulkner he is "not threatening anybody" when asked about his comments.
Harris immediately rebuked the clip.
"I'm sorry, and with all due respect, that clip was not what he has been saying about the enemy within; that he has repeated when he's speaking about the American people. That's not what you just showed," Harris said to Baier.
Harris added that Trump "has repeated it many times, and you and I both know that, and you and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military on the American people."
Trump initially made the comment during Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures" with Maria Bartiromo. When asked whether he agreed with President Biden's fear that Election Day will not be peaceful, Trump said, "the bigger problem is the enemy from within."
Trump added, "We have some very bad people. We have some sick people, radical left lunatics."
