Summer holidays can be an expensive time for families - especially as prices continue to rise.
Statistics show that the average family can spend nearly £1,500 keeping their children fed and entertained throughout the six-week holidays.
However, several supermarkets and restaurants are offering a helping hand with deals for children to eat free or for only £1.
From Tesco and Asda to Ikea and Hungry Horse, we round up some of the best deals right now.
Treat your child to a free meal at the following places:
Supermarkets
Asda
Kids aged 16 and under can eat for just £1 at any time of day in Asda cafés, seven days a week, with no minimum adult spend.
The Kids Eat for £1 initiative is available all day, every day until the end of the year.
A hot meal or cold meal, or both, will be on offer, depending on the store.
Baby food is also available as part of the initiative, with little ones able to enjoy a free pouch of Ella’s Kitchen baby food (70g pouch) in their local Asda Café.
Morrisons
One child under the age of 16 years old can have a free meal from the kids’ menu if an adult spends £4.99 or more.
This deal is available after 3:00pm and the child must be present at the time of purchase.
Extra portions or trade ups are not included in the £4.99 minimum value and the offer excludes all café specials.
The offer also cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer except Teatime Meal Deal.
Tesco
Tesco is offering a free kids meal to parents who are Clubcard holders all day, every day and throughout the summer.
Simply make a purchase and show your Clubcard or app at any of Tesco's cafés to get a free kids meal.
This includes one free kids hot meal deal or kids breakfast for dine in or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix per item purchased by an adult in the café.
M&S
M&S Cafes are offering a free Kids’ Munch Menu breakfast (until 11am) or lunch (11am – close) when you spend £5 or more in a single transaction on food or drink for adults.
This deal runs from July 25 to August 12.
Shops
Ikea
All kids can enjoy any meal from the children's menu for 95p, or £1.50 for a combination meal.
The combination meal includes one hot meal, jelly, a soft drink, and a piece of fruit. This offer is available until September 3.
Dobbies
Kids eat for free with an adult main meal. This includes the kids lunch menu or pick ‘n’ mix’ meal, plus a drink.
The deal is available daily from 12 noon.
Dunelm
Get one free mini-main, two kids snacks and a drink for every £4 you spend at Dunelm’s Pausa Cafes this summer.
Pub chains
Hungry Horse
One child can eat for free if an adult buys a breakfast costing at least £3.49.
The offer is available 8:00am to 12:00pm every day.
For Scottish sites, the deal runs until August 20 but, for non-Scottish sites, it’s September 4.
There is a maximum of two kids’ breakfast per one adult breakfast with a minimum total spend of £5.98 for this discount to apply.
The maximum discount value is £2.49.
Sizzling Pubs
Kids can enjoy a meal for £1 when you order an adult main meal, Monday to Friday, between 3:00pm – 7:00pm.
Dishes include fish fingers, pasta, chicken wraps, pizza and nuggets.
This offer cannot be used in conjunction with our breakfast or any other offer or set menu.

Farmhouse Inns
For each paying adult, two kids can eat for £1 from Monday to Saturday this summer.

Beefeater
Two children can get free breakfast when accompanied with one paying adult.
Money Saving Central also suggested that those who sign up to the Beefeater newsletter can get a code for kids to eat for free.
Restaurants
The Real Greek
One child under 12 can eat for free for every £10 spent on an adult meal.
The deal is only available in restaurants on Sundays and is not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
The offer includes a kids meal from the kids menu, drink and ice cream or sorbet.
YO! Sushi
Kids eat free from 3pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday until September 29, when an adult spends £10 or more.
Children must order the meal from children’s menu and be under 10 years old.
One child eats free for every £10 spent on food by the accompanying adult and a maximum of three children per table can eat for free.
The offer includes bento and a drink from the kids' menu. A dessert from this menu can be added for £1.50.
Bella Italia
Kids eat for £1 with the purchase of every adult main from 4-6pm from Monday to Thursday.
Kids can enjoy three courses & a Cawston Pressed Fruit Water.
