RAIPUR: A 21-year-old youth lured a girl to attend a marriage function at Devdobra village, seven km from Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district headquarters, but took her to a scaffolding built in his field situated on the outskirt of Chilputi village and raped keeping her in captive.
The next morning, the accused called his three friends who committed gang-rape.
Rajesh Kumar Sori, 21, who knew the girl from his neighbouring village for the last few years, reached to the girl on January 24 night and asked her to go for a marriage programme of his village Devdobra. However, instead of going to the marriage, the youth took her to a ‘Machan’ (scaffolding) built in his field outside the village and kept her captive and raped her. The next day, the accused call three of his friends identified as Namaji Mandavi, 21, Sadhu Ram Soni, 21 and Banshilal Korram, 24, all residents of Chilputi village, who committed gang-rape with the girl, said Kondagaon SDOP Nimitesh Singh.
The police have arrested the accused of gang rape after the victim lodged a complaint with the police on January 26 and booked them under Sections 342, 376, 506 and 34 of the IPC.
All the accused were on January 27 produced in the local court from where they were sent to jail on judicial remand.
The SDOP said that the accused also threatened the girl of dire consequence if she revealed the incident to anyone. A team under the direction of ASP Sobhraj Agrawal and led by the SDOP cordoned the Chilputi and Devdobra and arrested the accused.
