Four things spotted in Manchester United training as youngster catches the eye and selection boost

Manchester United's players were back in training on Thursday ahead of Sunday's trip to Elland Road.

Ralf Rangnick's men received a much-needed boost on Tuesday as Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes secured the three points against Brighton.

The win saw Rangnick's side move back into the Champions League places but Arsenal, Wolves and Tottenham all hold games in hand over United.

Leeds will be out for revenge after they were hammered at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season, with Fernandes netting a hat-trick and Paul Pogba proving instrumental in his side's victory.

As the clock ticks down to what should be a pulsating contest, we've picked out four things we spotted from Thursday's training session.

Brazilian Bromance

Alex Telles and Fred were both in high spirits during Thursday's session as they were pictured sharing a few jokes.

The former started on the bench for the win over Graham Potter's side after his bout with COVID, though Fred returned to the starting XI before being withdrawn in the second half.

It remains to be seen whether there will be changes for the trip to Elland Road.

Fernandes relief

Fernandes was all smiles during training after scoring the elusive second goal at Old Trafford on Tuesday with a brilliant solo run.

The 27-year-old expressed his relief at having found the back of the net as he ensured United got back to winning ways.

The late goal was his eighth of the season and he will be looking to add to that tally on Sunday.

Selection boost

Rangnick was dealt a selection boost for this weekend's clash as Raphael Varane shrugged off a stomach issue to return to first-team training.

United fans will be relieved to see the French defender back, though Rangnick now has a selection dilemma on his hands following the solid performance of Victor Lindelof on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani was also back in action following his absence from the win over Brighton.

Hannibal continues to catch the eye

Hannibal Mejbri remained in first-team training as Rangnick continues to cast his eye over the Tunisian starlet.

The youngster didn't feature as much as he would have liked at the Africa Cup of Nations but he'll be hoping to make waves in the United senior side between now and the end of the season.
