Four teenagers accused over the alleged hate crime stabbing of a transgender girl are set to stand trial in January next year.
Summer Betts-Ramsey, 19, is accused of the attempted murder of an 18-year-old girl allegedly stabbed 14 times on her way to a rollerskating party.
Betts-Ramsey is charged alongside a 16-year-old girl and two teenage boys, both 17, who all face charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The two girls appeared at the Old Bailey for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, when Judge Simon Mayo KC set a provisional trial date of January 6 next year.
All four defendants are expected to appear in court again on April 5, when pleas could be entered to the charges.
The alleged victim is said to have been subjected to transphobic slurs in the course of a group attack.
She was rushed to hospital after the incident in Masons Avenue, Wealdstone, near to Harrow Leisure Centre on February 10.
A previous court hearing was told she was on her way to a party with friends when she was stabbed.
It is alleged the incident was a “brutal, unprovoked transphobic hate crime”.
Betts-Ramsey, from Cricklewood in northwest London, was charged last month with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The two 17-year-old boys and the 16-year-old girl, whose identities are all protected due to their ages, were all later charged and appeared in court.
The girl, from north London, is also charged with robbery of the alleged victim’s handbag and possession of cannabis.
One of the boys, who lives in northwest London, is also accused of threatening the alleged victim with a knife in a private place on January 29.
At the end of Tuesday’s hearing, Judge Mayo told the female defendants: “There are two other defendants currently in the magistrates court who will be produced here on April 5.
“The prosecution says they intent to join the two of them, for a trial likely to take place early next year.”
Betts-Ramsey, appearing in court via videolink from HMP Bronzefield, held a hot water bottle for some of the court hearing, and spoke to confirm her identity and that she could hear the court.
She and the 16-year-old girl were remanded back into custody until the next court hearing.
