Four rushed to hospital after major crash in Scottish Borders

Four people have been rushed to hospital following a crash in the Scottish Borders. The incident took place shortly after 2pm today when two motors collided on the A68 at the Ravenswood Roundabout, near Earlston.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, sped to the scene to assist the casualties, four of whom were taken to Borders General Hospital.

Photos taken at the crash site show several fire appliances and blue-lit ambulances parked on the road near Melrose. Firefighters decked out in fluorescent clothing and hard hats gather at the spot while at least two uniformed officers consult in the background.

The road was locked down for enquiries to be carried out. Officers have confirmed that a 33-year-old man has now been charged in connection with the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2pm on Wednesday, October 26, officers were called to a two-vehicle crash on the A68, at Ravenswood Roundabout, near Earlston. Four people were taken by ambulance to Borders General Hospital for treatment.

“A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
