Four new schools Prince William and Kate Middleton have 'eyed-up' for Prince George

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have long been rumoured to be planning a new start in Windsor.

And with it, the couple has reportedly been looking at new schools for oldest son and third-in-line to the throne Prince George.

It may just seem like just yesterday that a then shy George clutched his dad Prince William's hand as he arrived for his first day at school at St Thomas's Battersea.

But this year he turns nine in July and it is claimed a change in his school could happen as early as this September.

So which schools have his parents reportedly been "eyeing up" for George? Here we take a look...

Lambrook School

According to the Daily Mail, the front-runner in the race to be George's new school is Lambrook, near Ascot.

It reports that William and Kate have been seen visiting the school "multiple times" - with William even chatting to one pupil about Latin classes.

The co-educational school charges up to £7,000 a term - plus a further £1,481 for boarding - and many of its leavers eventually head off other schools including Eton.

The fact that it caters for boys and girls means Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis could both also attend the school in the future.

In a guide by Talk Education on the best private schools in Britain, Lambrook is described as "pretty bucolic".

The guide added: "We spotted children cartwheeling on the croquet lawn, racing around with cricket bats and swinging from old tyres hanging from the trees, sporting proper rosy cheeks and a healthy outdoorsy glow.

"The school is anchored around a pristine, grand white country house, with a nursery and pre-prep on site. There’s a sense of delicious freedom and fresh air

Ludgrove Prep

During his schooling, William started attending boarding school at the age of eight, enrolling at Ludgrove Prep School in Berkshire.

And with George now the same age as his dad when he started to board - could this school be a possibility?

Ludgrove caters for around 200 boys aged eight to 13 with fees of just under £30,000 per year. Former pupils also include Prince Harry and adventurer Bear Grylls.

Its location means it is close to both the Quee n at Windsor and Kate's parents Michael and Carole in the village of Buckleberry.

St Andrew's Pangbourne

Another school said to be in the running for George is his mum Kate's old school - St Andrew's in Pangbourne.

Kate attended the private school, where fees are now £6,525 per term, for years five to eight - from 1986 until 1995.

She was predominantly a day girl at St Andrew's but in her later years also boarded for part of the week.

Kate once described her time in Pangbourne as the "happiest years of my life" and even had dreams of returning to the village and working as a teacher one day.

Speaking about the co-educational school, one local told the Times: "It’s leafy, with a big sweeping driveway, a brand new sports hall and beautiful indoor swimming pool. And you have the option of being a day pupil or boarding."

Papplewick

Meanwhile, another school William and Kate are said to have looked at is Papplewick in Ascot.

The school accommodates nearly 200 boys from the ages of six to 13 and in 2019 was named UK Prep School of the Year by Tatler.

Headmaster Tom Bunbury, writes on its website that Papplewick knows that "boys thrive on high expectations and challenge, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or in the Arts".

He adds: "By setting the bar high, Papplewick boys gain entry to the top UK senior schools including Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Wellington, Charterhouse, Bradfield, and Stowe".

According to the Mail, while visiting the school, one pupil told Kate that "she looked just like the Duchess of Cambridge".
