Authorities in Cartersville, Georgia, have apprehended four individuals in connection with the theft of cooking oil in bulk from multiple businesses. The suspects, identified as Carlos Laguna, Freddy Valencia Aguirre, Luis Gaitan-Obando, and Yunier Eliuth Aguirre-Polanco, are believed to have targeted various restaurants in Cartersville for their criminal activities.
According to the Cartersville Police Department, a thorough six-month investigation led to the arrest of the four men. Police suspect that these individuals may also be linked to similar theft incidents reported in the metro Atlanta area. Additionally, authorities have indicated that the suspects are associated with a criminal organization based in Gwinnett County.
Individual charges have been filed against each of the accused. Laguna has been charged with theft by taking and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and he has posted a $3,000 bond. Aguirre faces two counts of theft by taking and two counts of possession of tools for the commission of a crime, with a bond set at $6,000. Gaitan-Obando has been charged with theft by taking, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor. He is currently in custody at the Bartow County Jail on a $4,500 bond. Aguirre-Polanco faces charges of criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor and theft by taking, and has posted a $3,000 bond.
The Gwinnett County Police Department is collaborating with local authorities to further investigate the case and gather additional information related to the criminal organization the suspects are believed to be associated with.
