The Garda Representative Association lodged judicial review applications in Dublin’s High Court against Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on behalf of four officers who have been suspended for nearly three years.
Former President and current Limerick Division Representative of the GRA, Frank Thornton said the lives of the members have been put on hold as a result of the ongoing NBCI probe.
Mr. Thornton said the officers, who are part of the traffic division in Limerick, acted in the way they were trained.

Speaking earlier today, he said: “Since November 2020 our support and that of the wider Garda family has never relinquished for these colleagues.
“It is hugely frustrating that these members remain on suspension for almost three years with little or no clarity as to the status of this investigation, and no end in sight for this unacceptably lengthy investigation.
“These members and their families have had both their work and personal lives placed on hold.
“We have sought guidance in relation to the use of discretion and transparency on the rationale for extending their suspensions since 2020, but we are no clearer, which has left us with no alternative but to make today’s application.”
He continued: “We have no reason to believe that our colleagues acted in any other way other than they were trained and were instructed.”
Judge Charles Meenan granted leave to apply for the Judicial Review and put it back to July 11th.
Mr Thornton added: “We are happy with today’s progression and await further developments on July 11. We will continue to offer our full support to our colleagues and their families.”
