Four Doctor Groups Issue Coordinated Fall Vaccine Advice for Every Age as Federal COVID and RSV Guidance Lags

Update Note: This article reports new recommendations from four national medical societies, issued Sept. 2, 2026, following MedicalDaily's earlier coverage of the FDA's approval of updated COVID-19 vaccines. As of Sept. 10, 2026, the CDC had not issued new COVID-19 or RSV recommendations for the season.

Families now have a coordinated fall vaccine playbook from the nation's major physician groups, covering every stage of life from newborns to adults 75 and older. The American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America released aligned recommendations for flu, COVID-19, and RSV, the AAFP announced.
