Four people have been charged after allegedly travelling from Victoria to Sydney's west to kidnap a man.
Police said they were alerted to the incident by witnesses when the men allegedly broke into a home on Guildford Street in Guildford on Wednesday.
The men are accused of assaulting a 25-year-old man and forcing him into a BMW sedan about 10am.
It's alleged the man was then driven to another property, on Constance Street in Guildford, where he was threatened with a sword.
After several hours, he was forced back into the sedan.
Police spotted the vehicle driving in Guildford and stopped the sedan, arresting three men - aged 27, 36 and 40 - at the scene. A 33-year-old man was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
All four men were charged with kidnapping and other offences. They were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.
Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Weinstein told reporters the motive for the alleged kidnapping was unknown, but investigators didn't believe it was organised crime-related.
Police said the victim was left with minor injuries after the incident.
