If we know one thing about the people over at Epic and Fortnite, it's that they love an in-game concert (and a chargeable cosmetic skin, but more about that later).
We've had the likes of Ariana Grande and Travis Scott previously performing to hordes of excited avatars at in-game events, and now it seems the fighting is set to stop for yet another musical extravaganza when The Kid Laroi looks set to take to the virtual Fortnite stage towards the end of this month.
We are still operating here on sources provided to Insider Gaming, as Epic is yet to confirm anything from its end, but there are several solid details in the rumour that suggest the information is legitimate.
When is the Fortnite x The Kid Laroi concert?
So far the dates that are being touted point to the event being on either the 24th or 25th of January, and it seems like the music from the event will be playable for around one month after it ends.
After that, the only memories will be your own (or you could perhaps record it on your phone like you probably do when you go to a real concert) and the in-game cosmetics that you will be ushered to purchase.
Who is Kid Laroi?
It’s probably a fair question to ask, as 18-year-old The Kid Laroi is not as big a star as yet as Ariana or Travis.
He is an Australian singer/rapper who had a successful collab with Justin Bieber a year or so ago, and is hotly tipped for his star to shine brightly in 2023, which could be why Epic is getting in on the act early.
When is the next season of Fortnite?
Well, The Kid Laroi concert, assuming it goes ahead will occur well before the new season of Fortnite lands, with Chapter 4, Season 2 not expected until around the middle of March.
Will there be a The Kid Laroi skin available?
As yet there is no info on skins but there will be, without a shadow of a doubt, as we saw character and weapons skins arrive in tandem with the other big concerts we have had in the game to date.
As more and more artists see games, especially with the pull of mega-titles such as Fortnite, as a valid means of promotion, we expect events such as these to continue to rise in popularity. Is it a matter of time before we see all the Battle Royalers swaying to a giant in-game Adele?
