It only seems like October since Evil Dead skins appeared in Fortnite, largely because it was. But that hasn't stopped Epic Games from bringing back the best skin from Fornitemares 2022, and packaging it up as a tasty New Year horror bundle in the Item Shop.
Yes, assuming you have 1800 V Bucks in your Fortnite account (just over £10 in real money) you can pick up the Ash Williams skin that was part of the Knowby Cabin Nightmare set at Halloween, and play as the super-cool cult horror hero with his special chainsaw glove. During Fortnitemares, the Knowby Cabin – the setting for so much of the original and indeed subsequent horror sequels – was a POI in the game that you could visit.
The Knowby Cabin isn't there this time around, but you can still use all of Ash’s goodies elsewhere in the Battle Royale. It’s a shame you can’t pick up the skin on its own for cheaper this time, instead, you will get all the items in the bundle if you missed out last time including:
Necronomicon Ex Moris Back Bling
Boomstick Back Bling
Ash Williams Skin
It’s a Trick Emote
Chainsaw Hand Pickaxe
Hello, Henrietta Loading Screen
All the items look cool and if you are a fan of the movie, and the lore that surrounds them, you will be happy to have these as part of your collection.
Evil Dead rises again
It does seem a slightly odd time of year to release a horror bundle, but the new Evil Dead movie Evil Dead Rise is due in April this year, so we will start to see promo material that will tie in here.
Of all the items other than the skin, the best one has to be the Chainsaw Hand Pickaxe, even though it can only be used with the Ash Willams skin. Other items such as the 'It’s a Trick' emote, with Henrietta trying to escape from the cellar, can be used regardless of what skin you are currently sporting.
The Back Blings are cool if you are a fan of the movies, with the Boomstick being an iconic Hollywood shotgun worthy of a place in anybody’s collection. If there’s one thing we don’t like, it’s the price, and the fact you still can’t get any of the items separately even though it is the second time around the block.
While many people are comfortable paying that amount for cosmetics, microtransactions continue to be a discussion, especially as many people who bought this at Halloween might not have been expecting it to reappear quite so quickly, and therefore lose some of its rarity in the process.
