Former Warrior Kevin Durant expected to make debut with Suns on Wednesday vs. Hornets

After spending roughly three and a half seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, All-Star forward Kevin Durant was traded back to the Western Conference to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster move before the 2023 deadline.

Yet, the former Golden State Warrior scorer has yet to make his debut in the desert due to an injury. Durant has been out for 20 games due to an MCL sprain he suffered with the Nets in a contest against the Miami Heat on Jan. 8.

However, the former two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player is expected to return to the court soon. On Tuesday, the Suns announced Durant would make his debut on the road against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

Durant will get his first chance to enter Phoenix’s star-studded lineup with Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton.

During the 2022-23 season, Durant is averaging 29.7 points on 55.9% shooting from the field with 37.6% shooting from long distance to go along with 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 rebounds in 39 games.

Prior to landing with the Nets, the former Texas Longhorn spent three seasons with the Warriors, winning two NBA championships. During his stint with the Warriors, Durant averaged 25.8 points on 52.4% shooting from the floor and 38.4% shooting from beyond the arc with 7.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 34.1 minutes per game.

Following his debut on Wednesday, Durant and the Suns are set to meet the Warriors at San Francisco’s Chase Center on Monday, March 13 at 7 p.m. PT.

The Suns are set to meet the Hornets for Durant’s debut on Wednesday at 4 p.m. PT.
