Former UGA commit flips to Georgia Tech

Four-star defensive back recruit Tae Harris has flipped his commitment from the Clemson Tigers to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Harris was previously committed to the Georgia Bulldogs from June 19, 2023 to Jan. 21, 2024.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound athlete is the No. 48 recruit and No. 3 safety in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports. Harris is ranked as the No. 7 player in Georgia. He is the second former Georgia commit to flip to Georgia Tech.

Harris is Georgia Tech’s second-highest rated commitment in the class of 2025. The Yellow Jackets have the nation’s No. 17 recruiting class.

Georgia Tech has been UGA’s top in-state recruiting competition in the 2025 cycle. Tech has two of the Peach State’s top 10 recruits, which is the second-most in the country behind Georgia, who has five of the top 10 in-state recruits.

Tae Harris plays high school football for Cedartown High School in Cedartown, Georgia. Georgia football legend Nick Chubb also played for Cedartown.

Harris has received an invitation to play in the 2025 All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. Harris is a track athlete with elite speed. In fact, he ran a 10.7 second 100-meter dash in 2023.

Tae Harris is an explosive athlete with excellent lower body strength. On tape, Harris primarily plays cornerback. He is a sound tackler and big hitter. Harris does a good job of reading screen passes and is not afraid to attack opposing blockers.

Georgia football has 25 commitments in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Kirby Smart and Georgia the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation.
