Former Swansea City transfer guru links up with Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest

Andy Scott has joined Nottingham Forest as head of scouting.

The 49-year-old recently left his role as head of recruitment at Swansea City but had been determined to make a swift return to the game.

Scott, who was previously touted for a recruitment role at Middlesbrough, played a key role in Swansea’s captures of players including Joel Piroe, Ryan Manning and Michael Obafemi.

It has now been confirmed that he will link up with former Swans boss Steve Cooper at Forest.

Cooper, who left Swansea last summer, was named as Chris Hughton’s successor at The City Ground in September and has overseen a significant turnaround at the club.

Under the Welshman’s guidance, Forest have won 10 of their 19 games in all competitions, rising from the relegation places to Championship play-off contention in the process.

Amid Scott’s departure, Swansea revamped their scouting process under head coach Russell Martin.

Mark Allen was appointed as the club’s sporting director in August, having previously been academy director.

He is now spearheading Swansea’s transfer business following Scott’s exit in December.

Following his departure from the Swansea.com Stadium, Scott said: said: "I believe that I leave the club with the squad in very good shape, with an excellent balance that has been built methodically and strategically over the last two years.

"To be part of the last two play-off seasons has been a pleasure and I’d like to thank my team of scouts and analysts for the outstanding work they’ve put in as well as all the support staff, particularly Ben Greenwood, Rebecca Gigg, Ashley Gill and Huw Lake.

"The squad has some exciting talent and the relatively small fees paid for players like Joel Piroe and Ryan Manning, for example, continue to prove that a good scouting process and plan is invaluable.

"I’ve loved my time at Swansea City; the club, city and people are fantastic but with the impending change in recruitment strategy I feel this is the right time to move on and look forward to the next stage of my career."
