Former Steelers HC Bill Cowher says you can’t have a 3-man QB competition

The Pittsburgh Steelers understand full well how hard it is to replace a Hall of Fame quarterback. After spending two decades looking for the replacement for Terry Bradshaw Pittsburgh found Ben Roethlisberger.

Now the Steelers find themselves looking to replace Roethlisberger and they currently have a three-man battle for the starting spot. A position former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher says doesn’t work.

Pittsburgh has to sort out between Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph this year and honestly, a case could be made for all three. Head coach Mike Tomlin has said the rookie Pickett will be in the mix to start but Trubisky was brought in to be the bridge starter. Meanwhile, Rudolph had a strong minicamp and has the most experience in the system.

The best-case scenario is once training camp starts up, Trubisky and Pickett far outplay Rudolph and it just comes down to managing reps between the two in the preseason. But I have a feeling Rudolph isn’t going to go quietly and is going to make this quite complicated for the Steelers coaches.

Who do you think will end up being the Steelers starting quarterback? Let us know in the comments below.
