According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the New England Patriots are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers free agent defensive tackle Armon Watts. The contract is one year and $3 million.
Watts spent the 2023 season with the Steelers after a season with the Chicago Bears and three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. Watts played about 24 percent of the total defensive snaps, most of those coming when veteran Cam Heyward went down with injury.
The #Patriots are signing veteran DT Armon Watts, per his agents @davidcanter @NessMugrabi @IanGrutman of @gsefootball. Watts has played in 72 career games (22 starts), most recently with Pittsburgh.

With Watts a Patriot, this could accelerate Pittsburgh’s need to re-sign Montravius Adams, who is also a free agent. If the Steelers cannot get Adams back, it makes defensive tackle a fairly high priority either in the later stages of free agency or in the 2024 NFL draft.
