Former Spartans QB heading to College Football Playoff

A former Michigan State starting quarterback is heading to the College Football Playoff.

Sam Leavitt led Arizona State to the Big 12 championship on Saturday afternoon, and clinched a spot in the College Football Playoff. Leavitt threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 33 yards and another touchdown to lead the Sun Devils to the 45-19 victory over Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship Game.

With the win, Arizona State secured an automatic bid in the College Football Playoff. The Sun Devils are the No. 4 seed and will play the winner of No. 5 seed Texas-No. 12 seed Clemson in the quarterfinals.

Leavitt played for one year at Michigan State before transferring to Arizona State in the last offseason. He was a former four-star recruit in the 2023 class.
