The Tommy Tiernan Show is one of RTE's most popular shows on Saturday night's and it is has become well-known for championing alternative music as well as its celebrity interview guests.
On Saturday night's show, after the likes of Mario Rosenstock had opened up to Tommy, the comedian introduced his musical act for the night, garage punk band SPRINTS.
Twitter is often awash with commentary on the popular show and Saturday night was no different but one comment caused a bit of a stir.

Galway TD Ciaran Cannon, who lists Fine Gael spokesperson for Arts, Culture and Media on his Twitter bio, was less than impressed with the band and took to the platform to let his followers know.
"I’ve heard better music from slightly embarrassed TY students," he posted.
The comment received a mixed response with broadcaster Keith Walsh taking particular umbrage on behalf of the artist slated by the TD.
Walsh, a former RTE 2FM host, sarcastically responded that someone with Cannon's brief should have their 'finger on the pulse' and that the Cannon's complaint about new music made him sound like that type of auld lad whose taste is stuck well the past.
"Spokesperson for arts and culture is it? Finger on the pulse I see," Walsh said in a Tweet.
He then followed it with the common refrain of those unwilling to move with the times when it comes to music: "What’s that racket? Turn down that noise. In my day... etc".
The band themselves were seemingly amused by the comments made on Twitter by Ciaran Cannon TD, quoting his criticism and simply laughing 'HAHAHAHAHAHA'. The group also added the description "slightly embarrassed TY students" to their bio.
Such was the backlash, the TD has since apologised to the up-and-coming band and removed his original tweet.
He posted: "Wishing @sprintsmusic every success in their career. My sincere apologies to them for my unkind comment, now removed. I’m never going to enjoy their music, something that won’t cause them any concern whatsoever. It was unfair of me to undermine young people doing their thing."
