Former Rangers kid Nathan Patterson discovers Everton injury return timescale after ankle knock

Nathan Patterson has avoided any serious injury following his early departure from Scotland's Nations League opener against Ukraine.

The former Rangers youngster was stretchered off in the first of three games last week at Hampden in a major blow to Steve Clarke and club boss Frank Lampard. But following checks with a specialist in London, the full-back will now undergo treatment and should be back in action in the next four to five weeks.

The news will come as a huge boost to the Everton and Scotland support with the right-back starting every single minute of English Premier League action this campaign to date. His impressive performances have landed him huge praise with pundits talking him up following his display against Liverpool and one on one battle with Luis Diaz.

A club statement read: "Everton defender Nathan Patterson is expected to be out for around four to five weeks with an ankle injury.

"The 20-year-old Blues right-back was forced off while on international duty during Scotland’s Nations League win over Ukraine at Hampden Park last Wednesday.

"Following a consultation with a specialist in London, Patterson will now undergo treatment under the care of Everton’s medical team at Finch Farm."

This campaign has been a remarkable turnaround for former Rangers starlet Patterson following his big money move south of the border in January.

He only landed one top team appearance in an FA Cup clash against Boreham Wood before he was withdrawn at half-time.

However, it is a different story altogether this campaign and Lampard and Co will be hoping to get him back in action sooner rather than later.
