Matty Shiels says he is determined to put things right after feeling he produced one of his worst games for Hamilton Accies in yesterday's dismal defeat to Raith Rovers.
Hamilton weren't at the races at New Douglas Park as they barely laid a glove on their opponents, who took just 65 seconds to break the deadlock when Dylan Easton waltzed through the defence to net the opener.
A Jamie Gullan strike 16 minutes from time sealed their fate, with boss John Rankin furious with the lack of desire and bravery shown by his squad during the clash.
Left-back Shiels felt he should be offering more to the team and hopes to rectify that when 10th place Arbroath come calling next week in a bottom of the table clash.
Shiels, who joined from Rangers in May last year, said: "Everybody is gutted. It wasn't good enough from start to finish.
"It was a poor performance overall and we need to be much better.
"That's probably one of the worst games I've played this season.
"I know that, so I'll go away and look over my game, be harsh on myself and see the things I've done wrong so I can put them right in the next game.
"The full-backs are a massive part in our game so the gaffer wants me and Doyley [Michael Doyle] getting as high as we can.
"I don't feel I got as high as I could have so that's something I can hopefully put right next week."
Accies had gone three games unbeaten in the build-up to their clash with Rovers and feel hard done by that they didn't pick up some wins along the way, having created a hatful of chances.
Saturday was the polar opposite, however, as Accies barely threatened Jamie MacDonald's goal on their way to eighth spot in the Championship table.
And Shiels added: "We didn't create much after creating a lot in other games.
"I think we barely had a shot on target, but we need to be better at the back as well.
"As a back four we need to be more solid - and we can't be conceding that early either.
"On Monday we will look at the game and try and get it out of our system. Look over what we did wrong and try to fix it.
"I'm sure all the boys will get us going again for Arbroath."
