Former Rangers and Celtic stars score with £12,000 Renfrewshire hospice boost

St Mirren legend Tony Fitzpatrick and his company Legacycomps helped raise over £12,000 for a hospice at their first-ever speakers’ evening.

St Vincent’s Hospice hosted the event last month which saw the former Saints CEO joined by fellow Buddies great, and ex-Celtic ace, Frank McAvennie, and former Rangers and Brighton star Gordon Smith for a night of laughter, stories and good food.

Supported by Tony’s start-up business, Legacycomps Prize Bonanza, the business has been a huge advocate for the hospice as it is a cause that is close to the former Saints chief executive’s heart.

And now, after the dust settled on a great evening, the hospice has confirmed that it raised over £12,000 through various means of donations, ticket sales and raffles.

Speaking to the Paisley Daily Express, Tony expressed his delight in helping out St Vincent’s Hospice as he thanked everyone who attended, as well as the Paisley and wider Renfrewshire community.

He said: “I am so delighted to have been a proud supporter and affiliate partner of St Vincent’s Hospice. The work that they do is incredible as they care for many people and help provide comfort to those who need their help.

“It is a little hospice with a big heart. I am just absolutely delighted to support the work they do. It is difficult times and it means so much to me to have Legacycomps be able to help people at St Vincent’s Hospice.

“We couldn’t do it without the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire so thank you so much.”

Lesley Campbell, head of events at St Vincent’s Hospice, added: “It was a great night and fantastic event to have. We were delighted to have the support of Legacycomps.

“It went very well and everyone had a fantastic time, with Frank, Tony and Gordon all sharing brilliant stories of their careers.

“St Vincent’s Hospice requires around £6,000 per day to run and we rely heavily on support from events like these to enable us to continue providing our fantastic care to patients and their families from Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire.”

Lesley added: “We will be looking to do more events like this in future for sure as it was such a good night.”
