Former President Donald Trump is set to host a fundraiser in Cincinnati on May 15 alongside Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, as per an invitation obtained. The event is being advertised as a lunch discussion, with Vance listed as a 'special guest.'
The host committee members have been requested to donate or raise $250,000 for the event. Attendees are asked to contribute $100,000 per couple or $50,000 per person, according to the invite. This information was first reported by NBC News.
Vance, who is considered a potential running mate for Trump in the 2024 election, had previously received an endorsement from the former president during his Senate race and is known as one of Trump's staunchest supporters in Congress.
In recent discussions regarding his vice-presidential selection, Trump has shown a keen interest in Vance. However, Vance mentioned in an interview on 'Fox News Sunday' that he has never directly discussed the vice-presidential role with Trump. He stated, 'I talk to President Trump a lot. We’re very close. I’ve never spoken to him about being vice president. So, I assume that a lot of this is media speculation.' Nevertheless, Vance expressed that if Trump were to ask him to be his running mate, he would seriously consider the offer.
Privately, Trump has hinted that he intends to reveal his vice-presidential choice in early summer before the Republican convention, according to three sources familiar with the matter.
