Memorial services for former President Jimmy Carter took place on Tuesday, honoring the life and legacy of the late president who passed away at the age of 100. The day began with a repose at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta, Georgia, where friends, family, and dignitaries paid their respects.
In the afternoon, a departure ceremony was held at the library as Carter's body was transported to Washington D.C. for further memorials on Capitol Hill. Upon arrival in D.C., an arrival ceremony welcomed Carter before he was taken to the U.S. Capitol for additional tributes.
