Kalvin Phillips joined Premier League champions Manchester City from Leeds United on Monday. The midfielder moved to the Etihad stadium for a fee of £42million, having spent the entirety of his professional career thus far at Leeds.
Phillips became the star of Leeds' revival under Marcelo Bielsa, acting as the lynch pin in the defensive midfield role. His performances in helping Leeds to the Championship title in 2019/20 and to ninth place in the Premier League in 20/21 were enough to cement a place for him in England's starting XI for the belated Euro 2020 tournament, as he played every match in England's run to runners-up in the competition.
However, former Liverpool and Manchester City player, Didi Hamman, is not confident that Phillips will play regularly, now that he has moved to arguably the best club side in the world.
