Former French prime minister François Bayrou returns to court in Paris on Wednesday as an appeal opens into allegations that European Parliament funds were misused to pay staff working for his centrist MoDem party.

Bayrou, who was acquitted at the first trial in 2024, will appear alongside ten former party officials in the decade-old case involving parliamentary assistants to MEPs.
