Bill Belichick’s tactics were praised by former New England Patriots running back Danny Woodhead in connection to a key play in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.
After hauling in a pass, Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers ran for the goal line on the first play of the fourth quarter and dove for the end zone, reaching the ball out in the process. This was where things went awry, as Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed knocked the ball out of the receiver’s hands, and Trent McDuffie recovered it in the end zone.
Woodhead, who played three seasons for the Patriots, is no stranger to end zone reaches, having scored 15 touchdowns in his career, including 10 with New England. He recalled one important lesson from Belichick in a post on the X platform during Sunday’s game.

Unfortunately, Flowers had to learn the hard way with the fumble erasing a possible touchdown in the Ravens’ loss to the Chiefs. If anything, Sunday was a reminder of just how important fundamentals truly are.
