Sabri Lamouchi is "closing in" on a return to English football after being sacked by Nottingham Forest over two years ago.
The Frenchman emerged as a candidate for the vacant Cardiff City earlier this week. The Bluebirds have been on the lookout for a new manager for two weeks having sacked Mark Hudson following a 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic.
The club received many applications for the job, but Lamouchi appears to have won the role, according to WalesOnline. Former Cardiff and Leicester City defender Sol Bamba is expected to be installed as his assistant in the dugout.

The Frenchman spent just over 18 months at the City Ground between July 2019 and October 2020. He was in charge when the Reds dramatically lost out on a play-off place on goal difference on the final day of the season.
His time at the City Ground saw the season disrupted by the coronavirus outbreak and the return to football behind closed doors.
Lamouchi is currently out of work but most recently took charge of Qatari side Al-Duhail SC. The 51-year-old left the club in the summer of 2021.
