Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson lit up Sunday’s impressive FA Cup victory over Leicester City with an outstanding performance.
And he earned high praise from one of his former teammates amid a man of the match display at the City Ground which came in front of the live TV cameras.
Johnson was instrumental to the Reds’ stunning 4-1 success over Leicester City, netting their second goal and causing the Premier League visitors all sorts of problems.
His performance caught the eye of ex-Forest ace Matty Cash, who took to social media to single out his fellow Nigel Doughty Academy graduate.
Cash, who made the move to Aston Villa in September 2020, wrote on Twitter: “Brennan Johnson some player.” He added a trio of flame emojis for good measure.
Johnson’s opportunistic strike to help knock out the cup holders in the fourth round was his eighth of the season in the Garibaldi.
He was also picked out by BBC pundit Alan Shearer, who tweeted: “Well done Forest @NFFC outstanding today in every position. Brennan Johnson MOTM #FACup#bbcfacup.”
Philip Zinckernagel, Joe Worrall and Djed Spence also found the back of the net against the Foxes to ease past the top-flight outfit.
It sets up a home tie with Huddersfield Town in the next round of the competition.
